Trip Split

Privacy Policy

Last updated: Nov 2025

Trip Split is a private expense tracker for small groups. This page explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

  • Account details that come from Stack/Neon Auth (name, email, and unique user ID) so we can authenticate you and sync memberships.
  • Group and expense data you create inside the product, including amounts, descriptions, and the participants on each split.

How We Use Information

  • Provide core functionality such as showing your groups, calculating balances, and powering server actions.
  • Maintain the security of your account, prevent abuse, and debug service issues.
  • Send transactional notifications related to invitations or important account activity. We do not send marketing messages.

Sharing & Third Parties

  • We do not sell your data. Your information only leaves Trip Split to the infrastructure providers that make the product work (Neon for the database, Vercel for hosting, and Stack/Neon Auth for authentication).
  • We may disclose data if required to comply with the law or to protect Trip Split, our users, or the public.

Retention & Deletion

  • Your data stays in our database until you delete the relevant group or expense, or you request removal. Cascading deletes ensure related records are removed together.
  • To request deletion of your account or data, contact us using the information below and we will confirm once the request is complete.

Security

  • We rely on trusted hosting providers, enforce authenticated access to all server actions, and store monetary values as integers to avoid precision issues.
  • No system can be perfectly secure, but we continually monitor the stack for vulnerabilities and apply updates promptly.

If we make material updates to this policy we will post the new version here and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of Trip Split after changes go live means you accept the updated policy.
